Ideological War of GAN (Ch2: NoFuture)

2021

AI generative animation

Coal world forest?

Nuclear Powered Pets?

When coal is burned, it emits a variety of airborne poisons and pollutants — mercury, lead, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particulates, and several other heavy metals are among them. Emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, especially when a fuel is burned, can have a negative impact on the environment. That is the context of why nuclear energy is the largest single source of low-carbon energy in the EU (26.7% in 2019).

This series' image datasets are scraped from keywords such as ‘coal mines’ and ‘coal power plants’. Next, the data are trained by the model of forests, meant to be using opposed ideologies to produce abstract images.

According to the conclusion of the Joint Research Centre (JRC)'s report in April 2021, it is confirmed that EU decided to include nuclear power generation in the green investment label.

However, since the 1980s, people have suffered from the nightmare of nuclear disasters in Chernobyl and Fukushima. In order, for example, to prevent pollution spread, Soviet soldiers shot many abandoned dogs. Furthermore, numerous cats and animals were abandoned after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Experts believe that in the future thousands or tens of thousands of years some regions would not be suitable for human housing.

This series' image source: keywords for ‘nuclear power plants’ and ‘nuclear waste’ are scraped and re-render into abstract AI generative art using pre-trained models of cats and dogs.
